A focus tight on bliss neglects all the life falling through the seams

Smoking and denying we will never understand our newest fad
An orange bucket lays upon the front of the porch which gave it birth
Discursively trying I can only justify to torch the Earth

But here I sit alone on a sunny Sunday afternoon in May
Glaring at a tree knowing the squirrels have a safe place to play
I blow off the skin like sawdust on a piece of wood
Following an answer through a myriad of what I wants and shoulds
And I’ll call upon the sky
To never let me fail when I try
Carry on the back of your broken dreams all your hopes and fears
It’s not getting any closer and you’re only getting older every year
My shadow builds a notion and my wakefulness caters to its show
Though my guru brings me potions its usefulness is far too slow
